Penampang was declared a disaster hit district after the heavy rain on the 30th June 2024 caused severe flooding in several areas. On 2nd July 2024,  BDC Sabah immediately took action to contribute relief for those affected. Items such as drinking water, instant noodles, biscuits, and canned foods were delivered to the Penampang Cultural Hall, which was set up as a relief centre by the District Management Committee.
